Laila Brown

Assistant Tax Manager

My Experience and Expertise

Having worked for the British Taxpayers Association, HM Treasury and for HMRC, I have gained considerable accounting, tax, finance and business experience. In particular, compliance and personal tax returns work for high net worth individuals, non-domicile and non-resident. I also have experience of the preparation and filing of partnership tax returns, death estate returns and NRCGT returns, preparation of Capital Gains Tax calculations with Lettings Relief, Principal Private Residence Relief and Entrepreneurs Relief.

Over the years, I’ve been responsible for drafting tax advice for directors, mainly on residency status, Entrepreneurs Relief, and capital gains implications on share or property sales.

In my role at HM Treasury, I was involved in the management of the production of management accounts for the Executive Management Board. Amongst other things, I also wrote and contributed to briefings for ministers on a variety of areas, worked with the Financial Reporting team, the National Audit Office and the Strategy and Capability team.

More About Me

As a Fellow Chartered Accountant and on a personal level, I pride myself on being approachable as well as on my attention to detail and high level of financial insight. As a busy mother, when I’m not at work, I like to unwind by scaring myself half to death with my children on high octane roller coasters and rides.
